Because it would cost an extra 10 billion dollars to export by sea, Archbishop Hrisostomos of Cyprus South supported the natural gas being exported to Europe over Turkey. To the oppossition his message was "If it will be in our Economic and National interest then why not? It is better to love than to hate..."
Until a week or two ago the same guy was swearing at anything Turkish! Reh Hrisostomos! How much for your........?

Yes, this was the same guy that only a couple of weeks ago was saying it would be better for the Karpaz Apostollos Andreas Church to fall into ruin than let the "barbarian Turks" restore it

It seems to be that while the church should be serving God and not Mammon, the orthodox in the south has it the wrong way round. The change of heart would seem to be due to expediency and greed rather than lov e and caring.

Yes. I sat at the feet of Ian Paisley and heard himr ant on about hating the roman Catholics and banning any version of the bible other than the King james which he reckon came direct from God. any theogian knows and most people suspect that the original was written in hebrew and Greek! so what does Ina Paisley know about love, understanding and healing?
Maqkarios was a friend of someone I knew and the tales I heard made my hair curl.
the shortest verse in the Bible applies to all this 'Jesus wept' and I believe so do his modern day representatives over what the church has become (in many ways)
