I've got family popping over for 10 days.
Are they allowed to drive my local car?
Many thanks.

Check your insurance, as i was told there may be issues with younger drivers (under 25)

I thought but may be wrong
As long as owner gives permission and the car is covered by Insurance then all is OK.

I checked with both my insurance company and Tatlisu police station last year. Perfectly fine for a tourist to drive your car using UK licence, with your permission. Also, there is no issue for a driver to be 25 years old, that is a stipulation by hire car companies. To be on the safe side though, contact your own insurance company for clarification.

I was told by insurance I could have named drivers or any driver so went for any driver policy.

That's fair enough Gates, but I did confirm with both police and insurance company to make sure. Policeman in Tatlisu said if there was any problem to get police to contact him in Tatlisu. I also wrote a note both in English and Turkish (with the help of Google Translate) that my permission was given to drive the car for named person. Kept the note with car documents, but suppose could have been kept on mobile phone of tourist driver.
You are welcome Ginge, hope that all goes well for you. It is good to have things in writing.

My brother and family , I was advised the car was insured 3rd party. To cover a police check I asked them to photo copy their flight itinerary to prove they were visitors. Accident I wouldn't of been impressed if they damaged my car!!

Thanks.
I appreciate that is the case if you drive here permanently but was asking about visitors.
If there is no law you are aware of I will take it visitors can drive short term subject to full insurance cover.
I will check of course with my insurers.

That's only if you have been in TRNC for more than 90 days.
