how can you tell if a modern car has been clocked?

as heading, I know about shiny steering wheels and looking at the foot pedals, what other checks are possible, import documentation I presume??

Check with the DVLA and relevant companies using the chassis number also once you have the previous reg numbers try the insurance companies like Car Vertical who will tell you all about the service history ,owners and mileage. If it was imported ask for a copy of the uk log book.

Only buy UK import.

Very few, if any, dealers here import from UK. It’s not cost effective.
Anyone who is that concerned would be well advised to import their own vehicle, along with all the taxes, red tape etc that entails.

You see lots of garages here with lots of cars for sale with UK number plates, so I assume they have all been imported

Trouble is the TRNC taxes won't have been paid...
