We’re coming to Girne in November. Any recommendations for bars in the town centre where older people are not out of place?

Murphys and The George at the top of the hill in Kyrenia spring to mind but i find a good mix of ages plus locals, expats and tourists alike in most places. Simit and Helim in the Harbour you can't go wrong and there's Tim's on the main strip in Ozankoy. Rafters in Ozankoy is first class for authentic Bengal and European cuisine - again with a good mix of people. We've always been made welcome and never made to look out of place even when plonking ourselves on a table of locals in the street playing Tavla and drinking coffee. Try, n-joy, go back for more.

Being in the "Older" brigade I have never felt out of place anywhere in the TRNC, it seems the older you get the more friendly and helpful the local people are!

That’s good news, many thanks.
All the websites I looked at show pics of bars with just young people. Nice to know that there are places for us wrinklies.

The old Whiskey Joe's bar in Kyrenia centre has now re-opened as The Porters Bar & Bistro - new decor and ownership (Tunar from Fisherman's)
Hopefully the harbour will be opened at some point in November - my guess is around Solo Turk time.

'Porters Bar & Bistro' with no food as Tunar has no plans to open an eatery in the near future. A misleading name title of a a new refurbished
establishment.

Can recommend Porters bar (old whiskey Joe's)
Very nice refurb, great welcome and reasonable prices. Opens at 5pm. Hope he does well.
