Is it possible to change the name on the utilities on a property to the daughters/son's name as the lead name (father ) has died? .
Reason being possibly making residency easier . All been at property for many years.
Thanks in advance.

I rent but changed the name on the water when we moved here. Tried to change the name on the electric but they were not interested and told me not to bother. End result is I have been myself on water and somebody who died years ago is on the electric - this has made no difference to my residency at all as nobody has ever asked for proof of utilities, they only want a Muhters letter as proof of address.

My muhter refused to give me a letter as I have no proof of address as I don't rent as it's family. She said if I was on the electric bill she could check there and then on her phone .. so if the electric name was in mine I could get the letter .

I See, then maybe best to go the water bill route as that won't cost you anything but changing the name on the electric bill means you have to pay a deposit - even though the person already named on the bill has paid one! It was for that reason that the electric guy told me not to change the name as it costs me money and it's a waste of time!! Your Muhter should be able to check from the water bill as well, if not on the phone then take the bill along with you once you have changed the name! Worth a try.

How interesting, we use a muhtar letter for proof for my husband, everything else in my name and I kept my maiden name. Only other thing he has in his own name is his driving licence and his right to stay here.
