Forum Names

Some may not want to reveal their reasons but I was just curious as to why people have chosen the names that they have on this forum...I will start off, join in if you want!

PoshinDevon

My Dad took me to watch Peterborough Utd when I was 10 years old...many many years ago. I have had my character built over the last 40+ years following them!! There famous nickname is "The Posh".

After a nomadic life in the army spending many happy years in Cyprus we finally settled in Devon and have been here for the last 18years.

So hence the name "PoshinDevon".....simples!

Soner

My real name although it was not used much in my family as a child (read my book and you'll get a run down).

Before Gary-monger gets to this post: "Soner or later all will be revealed"

Regards,
Sooner

Mine is simple. I joined 44 when we lived in Chiang Mai, i joined 44 to check out the TRNC and met nasty nick with the first few posts. So thought i may as well keep the user name. I am just pleased we did not live in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

I like to know who I am dealing with and I like them to know it is me. Therefore I have to be totally honest (which suits my ethics!). But I want to know whether the earlier writer can pronounce Llanfair-pg. I have a sweater with it written on and whenh my Lebanese students (or any for that matter) complained that reading English was difficult, I merely thrust out my arms and told them to read what was written wrist to wrist. It is amazing how they then stopped complaining.
Now how about the rest of you who have names I do not know and no pictures! Why have the nomenclature you do?

Hi Marions.

The locals just say. Llanfair-pg. Don't think many of the younger ones could say it now.

You say the young ones may not be able to pronounce it, but when I lived in Menai Bridge we always had a laugh to watch the trip buses come in to the station at Llanfair-pg and the youngsters make a fortune from them by saying the name in full for the tourists (particularly American). Good little earner in the summer, I am sure there are many that carry on the tradition!

When I told my neighbours my name was Angela they thought I had said Angel so I'm Melek Hanim and it stuck. I am anything but as my husband frequently reminds me. 7348 is my lucky number according to the coffee cup reading, so I'm using it, ever hopeful.

Mine is also very boring, they didn't have barbie available on Cyprus44 so did barbieb, it seemed easier just to keep it, then I did not have to remember another one, not really lazy!!!!

This is real fascinating stuff, and I can already realise who some of you are from the descriptions. I think I know who ~Rocking is, and Jimm127 - cos he ain't a Jim, unless it is his middle name, and Nurse Awful should really change to Nurse Nice or some such, . Actually I was thinkinvg it would make for interesting reading in Cyprus Star, but maybe I should just keep it all to myself and the forum.
so come on the rest of you - why are you who you are (on the forum, that is)

Working with computers all the time as a bank manager I have many names/password to memorise which are all rather boring to met security testing. When I registered for the forum I was racking my brain for a username that I could be a bit more frivolous with. As I sat at the breakfast island with my laptop and coffee I stared out of the window for inspiration. The wind blew a pink cloud of cherry blossom across the window which I took to be a sign.

JAY = J = 1st letter of my first name
CEE = C = 1st letter of my wife's first name
BEE = B = 1st letter of our surname

Nothin too exotic really!
