Name change on electric meter

Does anyone know the procedure and cost of changing the electric meter into my name please. At the moment it is in previous owners name. When I tried to change it before, about 15 years ago, (I didn’t bring enough money with me) the people at Kibtek said I didn’t need to as long as I was paying the bill. I think it may be a new requirement for residency now to show bills paid in our own name.

I have also never been asked . Some people recently have been asked to show bill payments. I think at Girne police station.

When the new digital meters were installed some time back I asked to change the name on the meter and was told not to bother because Kibtek would not be able to afford the cost of the return of the original deposit to the original name on the meter. I tried hard to get it changed but the guy I spoke to for over 20 minutes suddenly could only understand Turkish! We both smiled and I left without changing the name - lol. Things may have changed since then - but I doubt it. No problem in changing the name on the water bill through!!

It states in the office how much it is, if you have a Cypriot sponsor it is cheaper. I did this with my landline, I think I would of had to rung Australia every day for a year to warrant the deposit. Unfortunately I can not remember how much so no help at all.

Shows how wrong my memory was
Found my deposit reciept for Kibtek 12 Oct 2012 469 tl exchange rate 2.904tl to the £ - £161.50 Now worth £12.24 (:Q)
I suppose the icrase in deposit in sterling terms will be due to increased cost of electricity Todays deposit 10860tl £1 =38.3 tl £283.55
