For people not wanting to work I could see no benefit at all. I was told the property valuation was not necessarily the value on the open market but rather a value put on by the relevant authority and that probably my property would not be enough anyway. Also as said previously it still has to be renewed every 2 years. Actually getting it in the first place was much more runnig around to various authorities than the normal permit and the cost for someone to do it was crazy so,on balance, we decided not to get involved.
I couldn't see any benefits either, and certainly have no intention of working. I also read that you can only spend a max of 60 days per annum out of the country. Whether this is true or not, I have no idea and not looked into.
