Wall height.

Afternoon everyone,
How high can a boundary wall be?
I know from previous posts (2020) that it was 1.2 meters
Is this still the same.? If so, who can I complain to?
Nightmare builders next door erecting what could turn out to be able to be seen from space.

As far as I'm aware (Cop out :) ) it's still 1.2 Mtrs ( measured on the side where the land is highest, if there is a difference in the level of the ground either side of the boundry).

Of course, if there is a large difference in the ground levels, i.e. if the properties are on a slope, then it will act as a retaining wall, and can be considerably higher on one side...

Your Belediye should be your first port of call if you have any concerns.

I think it is only the boundary wall’s that have the 1.2 not sure on parting walls

As Keith has advised a dividing wall has to be agreed by both parties, and your local municipality will come out.
We put a wood fence on top of our wall and even that can only be so high if one party is not happy.

Gates you must remember Fred's fence had to come down as his neighbours didn't approve.

Yes you are right but I meant there is no legal height or guidelines for the parting walls only boundary walls. Poor old Fred he would have made lots more money now

If the wall is that high take photos and take them down to the Beledise. I have always found them very helpful. After what happened in Turkey things here have tightened up a lot. We had a problem and within a day the Beledise were up and put a stop notice on the property as well as a notice for all work to be stopped (that certainly got the builders attention) Good luck and as they say a photo is worth a thousand words.

Good morning Tanky,
The wall can't really be seen from space.
I bet you knew that already.
It's 1.6 MTRS high at the moment.
It's just that it's positioned at the end of the driveway and obstructs my view of the road when trying to get the car out.
I have tried to have a reasonable discussion with the builder but reasonable isn't in his vocabulary.
I will do as you suggest.
Many thanks for your help
Marjie

Ask the municipality to put a mirror opposite, would 1.2m allow you to see up the road

We already have a wall of, you guessed it, 1.2mtrs.
For various reasons, he has built another wall along the driveway boundary. It's tall.
I honestly don't care too much about this except for the bit near the road.
A mirror might solve the problem, however taking a off a row of bricks would please me more
