Residency - New Form?

Have just been helping a friend with their residency application and reached the point where the Police Interview date has been given, along with the list of required documents to take with you.

I notice there is a requirement for a "Council of Ministers Application" and as I have never seen this one before I ask for assistance? Anyone seen it or provided it before or at the very least know what it is??

Thanks for any advice on this.

Waddo, it's a copy of the letter/application whereby the person applied for their Permission to Purchase - the Avukat who handled the purchase of the property on their behalf should be able to provide a copy.

My understanding is that it only applies to 'Owners' who do not yet have their Koçan.

Could be wrong!!

It used to be that a copy of a stamped Sales Contract was sufficient to show that you were a Home Owner...

Thanks Keith, Having scoured the NET that is what I think as well, what we all used to call the Permission to Purchase! Form 145. As the friend has the Kocan already then they must have had the PTP at some stage - maybe - lol. Will see when they get to the Police at Famagusta, lucky people don't have to go to Girne!!

I believe that it is your application number for permission to purchase, it also has to be stamped by Lefcosia.
Not required if you have the Kocan.

Hi. Just an extra note, we had our police appointment yesterday and they asked for a utility bill with our name and address on as a shared title deed kocan does not display the address. Luckily we had a water bill with us.

Regards

Waddo, I come under Famagusta and got a copy from the Tapu in Famagusta many years ago. Probably better getting it before police date as it can be busy. Plus better to hand a copy over so that the same rigmarole doesn't have to be gone through again.

Ah thanks Gates, it was quite a few years ago that I went, so very probably changed. Think solicitor is best and easiest bet if they have it as first port of call.

Certainly, as far as I'm aware, Kocan is KING in matters of residency. This proof of immovable property ownership paves the way for , at least, a greater chance of success, in securing residency.
I feel for those renting and having to live with 6 months on that basis.
It is very apparent that the authorities are in no rush to attract ex pats as residents unless of course you're a rather wealthy Russian, Ukrainian or other just as long as you're well financed.

Actually it is quite easy take your kochan and passport. They give you a small piece of paper that is no bigger than a bus ticket. Now I thought i had to take this to Magusa to get a copy not realising that was it. So from there back to Nicosia were we worked out it was just that ticket size piece of paper. So the whole day many miles i was carrying it round with me for most of the day.

Waz, been renting/leasing - same thing as far as residency is concerned - for the past 17 years, no real problems provided you, A) live here and understood all the constraints when you came and B) Have developed a manana (from the Spanish for "Tomorrow") attitude to life and officialdom here! It is the interference of the normal pace of life here that causes problems - I can't wait to see how the Government will deal with the RRS, IRS & URS when they all form up in competition to the BRS - lol.

If you think officialdom is bad in the TRNC wait until you come back to the United Kingdom? Don't call the police if you are burgled, give your doctor plenty of advance notice for an appointment, if he refers you to a specialist, don't hold your breath, don't call an ambulance, it's quicker by bus, be prepared to fork ou £159 do a TV licence, try not to use your gas or electric, shower yearly, don't use a hosepipe and Never, Ever put your rubbish in the incorrect bin.

Kanonier, Thanks For that, looks like, as we have had another count up of finances and what we will lose IF we leave here and not gain anything of real value by going back to the UK - we are of the opinion that the frying pan is much better than the fire at this time. Going to give it another few years before lemmings leap - lol.

As with most things there is always a good side, this year we are going to get more cruise ships docking at Southampton, thousands of people exploring the area. Excursions suggested so far is to go by coach to spot all the potholes and another day trip to watch the lifeboats escort those that prefer to come to port by dinghy.
