Naim Çiftçioğlu, a farmer in the village of Çamlıca, was shocked the night before last when one of his sheep gave birth to a lamb with no head. 56-year-old Çiftçioğlu told the Kıbrıs reporter that he had seen many births in his time, "including those of 3-legged animals, but never anything like this." Apparently the lamb was born alive, but died almost immediately.
Cengiz Ozaner of the Veterinary Association said that it was very unlikely this deformity was related to animal feed or radiation, adding it was an isolated occurrence. Such deformities were genetic and could occur anywhere from time to time, he said.
