How to apply for white kimlet card and what are the benefits

Certificate of real estate, certificate of good conduct. Then a certificate from the hospital. Issued for 10 years. You can be away from the island as long as you want. Receiving benefits from the TRNC and something else.

Gaining from a work permit is a great plus, your employer no longer is your guarantor and has your right to live here, enabling you to switch jobs easily. Plus you have a foot on the ladder to citizenship.
First of all arrange an appointment to see if you qualify, if you know you do

Muhtars letter
Social signorta records
Photos
Passport and copies

Still has to be renewed every 2 years and a medical but I still think you are limited to the time you can be away from the island.

I gained mine through a work permit so probably got confused with signorta and fund breaks and it was 9 years ago.

I have a couple of friends (UK) and so far the only benefit that I can see is they don't have to have passports to go down south shopping. There are other benefits I understand but I don't know what they are. Although I can see it being useful when asked to provide passport in a bank etc

We would have got ours as well but they changed the rules in 2015! Later we were told that temp residency counts for nothing, I asked for our money back but got nowhere - lol.

I've never actually gone with them, but it's always the impression I get. Please don't shoot the messenger!! I do know they jumped through all sorts of hoops about 8 or 9 year ago and they certainly wouldn't have done that if they didn't received a few perks!!!!

You use the beyaz kimlik (white card or permanent residency/work permit) to exit/enter the north; need your normal passport to enter/exit the south. It only offers 'benefits' in the north and wouldn't be recognised in the south as an ID/travel document at all.

So what's the benefit of having one. The only Brits I know that have one give the impression they have some benefits that I don't, and if and when i get the 5 year exemption there seems to be none??

If you work a great benefit but not sure through residency on the new system

Under the old permanent residency white card system (pre 2015) when you obtained one , you no longer had to undertake any residency processes and you could come and go off island for longer periods; it was the first step towards 'citizenship' if you wanted it. Pre 2015 holders retain (correct me if wrong) those benefits.

Fast forward to post 2015, the white card has to be 'confirmed' every two years i.e. you had to confirm to the immigration office that you still met the conditions for holding the card: I assume this was both financial assets, home ownership (not sure if you could get one while renting) and time off island.

Post 2015 white card: I suppose the advantage is it does confirm you are permanently resident, as opposed to 'temporarily residence', irrespective of how long you have held the temp' residence.

I think it seems many of these various 'residencies' and route to 'citizenship' are now essentially aimed at Turkish nationals; the TRNC rationale is, that as they only country that recognises it, those nationals should get 'special treatment', as we have seen with the new property law.

Hi snd1966. Please can you tell me what I need to do for my 2 year review of my work white kimlik? I know my taxes and sigorta have to be up to date but what else do they check or I have to provide evidence of? Thank you for your help. Cathy

You can not apply until it runs out,
In and outs, police report here, signorta, muhtar letter, and the usual copies. They will issue the medical papers. No appointments at the moment, I assume they are dealing with a backlog. Packed out yesterday as I wanted to ask when the appointment system would be open for a new application for a friend. I think as a renewal you will have to push, shove and hope. Good luck
