I recently received excellent advice on this forum regarding my arthritic knee.
I am now at the stage where a Doctor is advising knee replacement and I would, therefore, value further advice.
In particular, I would like to hear from anyone who has had such surgery and would be able to offer advice.

Had mine done in the UK recently. Be prepared for long term recovery. You will need crutches for the early week or 2. Doctors told me not to use a Zimmer frame as you may get reliant on them.
Excercises are critical in the first month or so. Get the ice pack supports for the swelling. Pai. Killers for the first week's essential. Help around the house would be useful for a week or so. Rest. I'm 2 months on and still swollen and painful. Was told 6 months plus .

I'm having mine done in the UK in a couple of weeks, went for my pre-op today. I did a lot of online research before opting for the ROSA system which hopefully will mean a reduced recovery time and less pain, all being well you can begin driving again after about 3 weeks. I also did online research about my surgeon and everyone who I have spoken to rates him very highly, he has one of the best recovery rates in the UK. As Susie has said you must follow your physios advice and do the exercises both before and after your op. The hospital has given me a very useful booklet which outlines the whole procedure from start to finish and you may be able to access something similar online. Good luck!

I've not needed the op myself (YET!) but the people that I've spoken to who have, all tell me the same...
