My internet provider (Turkcell) has gone from 379TL per month to 405TL this month, (No biggie) but has just informed me that from 1st August will be 715TL per month

Is this excessive compared to other providers?

TML push back, tell them that's too big an increase. I did and they reduced it.

Go into a branch and tell them it's too much. I did this last year and they dropped price to lower than what I was paying. Two months ago it went up again. Told them I don't want to pay more or come into branch to sort out every 6 months, and went on a pay as you go tarif. My last 2 bills were around 140tl. I have a UK sim too, so don't need Internet with Turkcell.

Are you talking about home internet/wifi or mobile internet package?

I'm not with them for home internet, but have a 10GB mobile internet only package on a 6 month basis (it used to be annually), and at the moment it is 309.90TL per month plus extra for tax and any standard rate calls/SMS which are very rare.

It's home internet, I recognize the figures, identical to those quoted to me.. use the phrase above to push back TML.

Thanks Groucho, can't get home internet with them here, or at least couldn't a couple of years back, so no idea.

Yes you are right, misread post, thought it was mobile tarif increase. Which they seem to be increasing every 6 months.

Yes every 6 months it seems to go up buy about 200tl i went in and asked if there smaller that would suit me but no. Mind you not bad as when power out i can watch iptv or Netflix so it really comes in handy. These smart phones are great

Not sure if I'm being charged for something or not. I am with Turkcell but when I go into Gloria Jeans for coffee, I try to use the internet and immediately my mobile screen is plastered with YOU ARE NOW USING LIFECELL FOR FREE. When this happens my normal ISP is blocked and Im instructed to obtain a LIFECELL password and registration. I don't do anything and eventually when I go somewhere else my mobile goes back to normal.

Just paid for 1 yr, 2 months free. 7,095 TL with 15 MB. (£173)

First year 180tl per month with 3 months free for 20MB
Then they tried to put it up so went to shop got another 3 months free 235tl per month for another year for 20 MB

Whatsapped them and told to call the call centre; that's obviously a waste of time so will visit branch and give it a go.

That's Turkcell home internet, rather than mobile side of things, which is what apparently TML has. I get SMS about it every so often.

Thanks, its more than a nuisance when it actually blocks me from using my wifi/internet when in a coffee house

Perhaps I am thinking of something else then BB. I know Lifecell is home internet branch of KKTCell, but have no knowledge of such a thing interfering with your phone. I just use my mobile data allowance if I am out and about and need internet, I have a deep distrust of using public wifi.

if you want to make WhatsApp calls over WIFI when out and about or at home, it's worth noting that SmartVpn needs to be off... SmartDNSProxy can stay on but not the VPN, WhatsApp gets its knickers in a twist if you leave it on.
