Morning all. We have had the annual cockroach insect application boys around here in Girne. The usual boys came in the house and put their poison inside the usual cupboards on the taps etc. A very good service indeed.
I did notice that the usual annual, same boys, usually have a sprayer with then to do the drains etc once the lids are lifted. This is where the cockroaches live. They were not here this year. Went to the Belediyesi to enquire why not. I have been informed that the sprayers are still available but now we have to pay for them to come to to houses. So there we have it. The cockroaches can happily stay in their drains and no need to come up to the taps etc as they are now safe. Why do they not just add the annual spraying etc onto the annual house council tax and make life simple.

Got it done at the begining of the year and they have been back on the routine visit.
Just another way of getting more money from you.
Expect a flurry of cockroaches coming out the drains soon.

The two students came round two weeks ago sprayed the hinges under the kitchen sink (which go rusty after about three months) then lifted a couple of covers of the drain that goes to the soakaway. All we do is sign a form as this is all covered under the Belediye invoice paid again two weeks ago.

13 Roman58, You're right about the roaches. I was hosing under of some bushes one evening a week ago and suddenly about 20 or so of the blighters shot out at all angles. This was a couple of foot from drain cover. Thank heaven I've got used to them after all these years.

I bought a big bottle of boric acid for 170 TL...you have to be careful with it as it can sting your skin for a good few hours later ..I know from experience ...I'm sure that's what they are spraying ...

Don't drink it either ...

Buy the black raid spray give your drains a spray every now and then. That will stop your problem. Same as they use.

The majority will not pay this extra charge leading to a major infestation in the streets.
