Spiders on the prowl.....!!
Last week I noticed what I thought was a damp patch high up in the bathroom, and I was going to sort it the next day, but to late, it was a spiders nest and they hatched out with at least 100 spiders covering the walls and ceiling.
Last night whilst in the bathroom looked down and a large, I mean large, black tarantula was only 6in from my foot.
Arachnophobia kicked in and I fled with whatever I had in my hand at the time, to the alarm of my girlfriend, who thought I was a streaker.
Time to close the windows now I think before darkness falls.

So where are you? this has certainly been the year of the spiders and spiders webs. All over the place, but nothing deadly or scarey - just a nuisance. poor you/! Poersonally when I am in a cowardly mood out comes the spray and I become a murderer, asking God's forgiveness at the same time for not loving all his critters as I should.

I spray them with hair spray which puts them out of action long enough for me to get the blighters outside, then bolt the doors and windows so they can't get back in! I hate them.

Re: Spiders on the prowl.....!!
I have a couple of cats, they are reputed to eat spiders although the odd one or two seem to slip by them.
Don't want to worry you but the type you had in the shower usually come in pairs. I know they look like
Tarantula but they are not according to a friend who knows about these things. Me, my motto " take no chances ".
Hope the other of the pair predeceased it.....

Re: Spiders on the prowl.....!!
I found a pair of them in a flat that I had renovated in Lefkosa, the old bath was removed and both tried to escape. One was double the size of the other. I think the one in the picture is the smaller one. Not wanting to scare you and all that but I'd get the girlfriend to do a thourough search...

We had 2 Light Brown Tarantula's in the pump room last year. And big buggers as well. Managed to get them out with the sweeping brush though.
I believe the bite is a bit like a Bee sting.

Re: Spiders on the prowl.....!!
We had two in our apartment end of May last year two days apart from each other they were European Tarantulas based on some research we did on the internet, so i would also say they like to hang out in pairs.
Every time we arrive at our apartment now my wife spends the first hour looking under every item of furniture and all the kitchen cabinets to make sure nothing is going to pop out.
Im normally not bothered by spiders but they were bigger than the size of the top of a pint glass with very hairy legs, still make me shiver now.

Yes, we were driving in ozankoy after a night in rafters last month and there was a cat in the road with what looked like a small rat from the car. It was the biggest hairiest tarantula I have ever seen and it was very angry. Didnt get too close !

Please don't worry the tarantulas here are brown and then you will scream, still looking for the partner to mine, never mind as long as I don't see it it can do what it wants
