Fridge/Freezer
Dear members hope all is well. We have decided to purchase a NEW fridge/Freezer instead of getting our Arcelik one repaired which is 8 years old now . We have a holiday home in Alagadi Girne and we are over 1st Sept for 2 weeks. Willing to spend up to £1000 on one. Any suggestions members please ?

Re: Fridge/Freezer
How true this is now but over the years friends have told me that all white goods in Guzelyurt are cheaper that anywhere on the coast here. Far few foreigners with supposedly more money. They also delivered to Alsancak as well. You could also have a trip out. Just a thought. So is seeing if its just a minor fault,

Re: Fridge/Freezer
Funnily enough BB, I was told the same years ago and bought Arcelic white goods in Guzelurt, and they were cheaper than in Girne. At that time they delivered to Tatlisu, although whether they would now is another thing.

Denizismail,
I think you will find that Arcelik owns and manufactures Beko products.

Mr Chinnery is correct:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beko
“Beko is a Turkish white goods and electronics brand of Arçelik A.Ş., which is controlled by the Koç Holding conglomerate.”

Thank you everyone for messages again much appreciated. We have seen one on Beko website for around 30999TL. Beko give 5% discount if you pay by cash and a further 3000tl off the price as a gift ! However they will not take away our OLD Arcelik ( 8 year old) fridge/freezer which we paid £850 for 8 years ago !

Is it not possible to get your old fridge repaired? White goods are extortionate at the moment, they are expensive here at the best of times.

Re: Fridge/Freezer
Alphamike you're right!
Our Samsung Fridge freezer which we brought from the UK 18 years ago is still going strong - on the few occasions that it's gone wrong Iceman's son EFE has fixed it promptly and cheaply - his number is +90 542 868 90 66
I can't see the point of spending hundreds of pounds on a new one when the old one can be fixed!

I've had Arcelic fridge freezer for around 15 years now and had it repaired 2 or 3 times. The biggest repair was when the door fell off when I had family staying one summer. My neighbour worked for Beko and got one of their repairmen to order a new door, which was cheaper than ordering from Arcelic.
Luckily enough someone put second hand fridge on here that very day, so bought that to fill in whilst door delivered from Turkey. I now have 2 fridge freezers and somehow manage to fill both.

Last time I was in UK, the manager for white good in John Lewises, Norwich, told me that BEKO was becoming the fastest selling in the UK. That was a while back though, but it was reassuring if JL rated them.

Re: Fridge/Freezer
Dear Members just got back from TRNC. I did call Efe ( Ice Man's son) as recommended by KIBKOM members to come and take a look at our Arcelik fridge freezer to see whether worth repairing. He charged us £15 as a call charge. Spent an hour trying to trace the fault. Managed to find the fault . The fridge being around 8 years old said however was not worth repairing and recommended that we purchase a new fridge freezer. We went to Zorlu Digital/electrical place in Girne based on the recommendation of our GOOD friend Soner. We purchased an LG fridge/freezer for £700. Just wanted to thank you all for your support with this one much appreciated .
