I used to care, but I don't any longer. Most of it is rubbish.... I used to think it was because they hadn't a clue about its storage or correct way to cook it, (anyone can pour masses if different flavoured sauces over it,) it doesn't make the meat a better quality and in any case they live and die on chickens. So basically, by default, I have become, more or less, a vegetarian.

Don't blame you BB, I've been vegetarian for well over 40 years, and very glad of it now with prices here. I'm sure that others are reducing their weekly meat intake due to the high cost.
I've "downgraded" from buying meat for the dog, mostly chicken, yeughy chicken livers and other bits, and sometimes the dog meat trays from Supreme if I'm along that way.

You'll not persuade me as to meat here as a whole. Im sure that occasionally some bright spark will know how to hang the beef correctly and look after it AND KNOW HOW TO COOK IT PROPERLY, but that's as rare as hens teeth. I work on the theory, if the majority don't eat it (what ever it is, then they won't know how to cook it. I get tired of every man/woman and his dog being referred to as Chefs, they are not. With the rare exception.

Agreed, meat generally ok from Supreme or Ozanköy butcher.

I have to agree re Ozankoy butcher, Had some gammon once though and it was so fatty, it would have suited the Russians, they love fatty meat.

A bit to much generalization there benjaminbutton, my wife buys all out meat from Best butchers, but not if it's fatty, she won't even buy mince beef, she buys braising steak and removes any fat before mincing it her self.

So strange the comments about the meat quality here. We have lived here almost 19 years and found most of the meat and poultry to be way above the quality of the UK products and it goes withjout saying that fruit veg and bread is of an excellent standard.

We dont buy lots of meat but im very very happy with what we do get here. A few evenings ago in the Merit Royal I did have a bit of a meat binge and I said to a friend of mine this morning overall it was it was one of the finest meals I have ever eaten. I can remember in the UK searching markets for Tomatoes and Carrots with some taste .

Absolutley rate the food here, Yes some things can be more expensive but in general I believe we are still far better off than the U.K.
