I have an old table, the frame is aluminium but looking tatty.
What would I be looking for here as a primer before using silver hammerite??
Thanks in advance

I hope you get an answer cos I'm looking to do exactly the same on a glass topped table.

Re: Painting aluminium
I would ask at your local Yapı market - it might depend on whether you're painting bare aluminium or painting over an existing patchy coating.

There used to be a primer called plumbate prime mate best for painting galvanised. But was lead based so stop in uk have to look. Perhaps a spray primer and paint could help
