Hi all trying to book a return flight from Stansted but can't seem to get checked baggage as the time between landing in Istanbul and getting on to the plane to Ercan is not sufficient so does anyone know how much time you need to allow to get from one aircraft to the other one please. Tia

It depends which gate you land at and the gate leaving for Ercan. Sometimes this can be huge, a very long brisk walk in some cases. If you are lucky and your departure is imminent there maybe staff at the gate where you land who will usher you through to departures without going through security. Anything under 45 minutes is really tricky. The departure gates range from A to f or something like that.

Thanks for that I was looking on Last minute website and the layover was well over an hour but the wouldn't let me add baggage to the booking as the said that there may not be time to transfer planes I guess they are thinking that if the plane to Istanbul gets delayed and is late on arrival then I could miss the changeover

I agree with Mollie the Cat, I've run the length of the airport and it's not fun! I'd say anything less than an hour and a half is a no go

Looks like I should look for flights that are two hours apart in case of any delays

Best advice I can offer is this: If you are transiting through Istanbul from Manchester airport then make sure you have enough in your cabin baggage to see you overnight in Cyprus, Ercan are very good at getting your delayed hold bagge to you the very next day! If you even think that your luggage missed the connecting flight to Ercan then don’t bother going to the carousel in case it is there! Go straight to lost luggage - small cabin against the wall beyond carousel number 5 - and show them your baggage stubs and ask them where your luggage is! They can pull up the information on their computer in seconds! If your luggage missed the Flt then give them your contact details and they will forward it on to you as soon as it arrives, it’s a free service and very good! Latest delivery of luggage I have had is by 14:00 the next day! Good luck.

Thanks for that...so is the luggage from the flight into Istanbul put on the connecting flight to Ercan by the baggage staff or do you do that your self ?

If it's Pegasus Stansted to Ercan then you don't need to do anything as baggage is transferred. 90 minutes is enough of a layover. They are very good at moving you quickly from the plane to the departure gate, very often walking you straight through if time is tight.

Just listen for announcements after you land as sometimes they ask for transit passengers to stay on board and then take off you off together once everyone else has disembarked. Alternatively, as you enter the terminal there may be someone there calling out for Ercan and they will then walk you to departures.
