The super friendly kangal outside the supermarket had been missing all week. Asked a well placed person in the know, and it seems he was injured (not seriously) involving a car

. He is doing well and recuperating with a foster family. Well done kind people & KAR(?). Hope for a positive outcome and a permanent re-homing.

Hope that he does get a permanent home, glad he is doing well with a foster family at the moment. Will keep all crossed. Thanks for letting us know.
Unfortunately too many dogs get hit in supermarket car parks with stupid speeding and not caring a jot. Makes my blood boil. On saying that, that's how I ended up with my current dog, and what an absolute cracker he is. Goodness knows how anyone could have abandoned him in the first place, such a good nature and not a day goes past without some kind of amusement at his antics.

Elaine, our Centre Manager, had a call on Sunday to say that Roman (the Sah dog) had been hit by a car again and limping.
She picked him up and he was taken to the vet and thankfully no treatment was necessary, so he was taken to the centre. He has had some rest and the good news is that his leg seems okay now.
Perhaps we need to teach Roman the Green Cross Code or even better, drivers could be a bit more careful - Roman's not exactly a small dog and difficult to see!!

I wondered where he was yesterday, but he can be his own worst enemy though. I have been known to get out of my car and get him to shift. He loves his sun and was NOT GOING TO M0VE. . With reluctance he moved enough from me to reverse!!! He also likes to lay flat out in the middle of the road opposite the main entrance.

UPDATE ON ROMAN
You are all no doubt wondering how he has been getting on since he was hit by a car (again) and was taken in by KAR. Well, we have some wonderful news - he has a home!
We got in touch with a local couple who recently lost two of their dogs and asked them whether they would consider offering him a home. They agreed to take him in for a trial run to see how he settled and as you can see from these photos, he has settled in pretty well.
The couple wish to remain anonymous but we are of course delighted that Roman will no longer be at risk from dangerous and ignorant drivers. Have a nice life Roman!

Last Friday between 60 and 80 dogs were collected from the çatalköy area, so hopefully his place will stay open.
Esentepe shelter took 32!!
They are crying out for help, unfortunately if you are not on Facebook it seems you aren't kept updated
18 January 2024
The shelter urgently needs your help.
We are looking for anything we can use as bedding, for food and water as well as contributions towards welfare and vet bills plus bags of dog food, some puppy food too.
Personal support would be appreciated too.
Locally Linda Carpenter can be contacted.
There is an official Facebook page for the Esentepe Shelter which was established after March 2022. It is not a charity and is managed by the Municipality with the help of volunteers. Contributions welcome and received by volunteers only or directly to the bank account.

Thanks for the update. Such brilliant news for Roman and thanks to the kind people who took him in. He'll be missed of course by many people!
