I watch YouTube more than any other and its obvious that more and more Advertisements are being shown relating to TRNC. Sadly they are usually 5 star hotel all over the country including Lefkosa, but in doing so they do show some scenery and beaches etc.

You can have multiple people watching the same video on YouTube and everyone will more than likely see different ads. You Tube allows advertisers to target people based on many factors including location, content viewed, age, even the device type you are viewing on. Google owns YouTube and both track your browsing habits. There are ways round this such as in your browser privacy settings you can select "Do not track" or block Cookies, use Private Browsing or a VPN. You'll see just as many ads but they'll be less relevant. The only way to stop the ads is to pay to go "Ad-free" which YouTube want you to push you into, but you may still see ads where "contractually required". It's all very "Big Brother and quite alarming when not only do you start seeing ads for things which you searched for previously, but more so and almost beyond coincidence when you start seeing ads for things that you were talking about to a friend in the pub the evening before. On the other hand it is useful to see results on YouTube home screen related to what you have previously watched as it does save searching each time you go on.

Hi there MnM, I take on board most of what you say i.e. was once absolutely swamped by police dramas, but what I have NEVER explored is 5 star hotels in TRNC, two of which I can walk to or others I can drive to in a matter of minutes. This is on my laptop, however, my phone is being swamped by Ads from Singapore and the Far East and newspapers from Southern States in the US. So much so I have seriously thought of going back to Factory settings, although I realise they will probably catch up with me!!!!

Afraid to say anything, as am bound to get hit now. I use a different email address for youtube to the one I use on my phone. I never use youtube on phone, just on laptop and use Firefox with ublock origin extension for viewing. It seems to work fine and exclude ads, so far anyway. I moved to using Firefox a while back for youtube, as it didn't like the adblockers I was using on Chrome, and kept playing a cat and mouse game trying to watch without any warning pop ups. As I say, this will probably be the kiss of death for me now mentioning it.

What I hate with a vengeance these days are the Privacy Statement / Cookie pop-up windows on a lot of sites. Some have a simple question, asking if you're ok with cookies with a yes or no answer - pure and simple. But the most irritating ones are where you have to scroll down, and down, and down, to untick every option that the site has assumed to opt you into and there can be 10-15 at times. As soon as one of those appears on a website I click straight out and find an alternative.

Couldn't agree more MnM, it's ridiculous, and I do the same as you and steer clear. I can't think of any such websites at the top of my head at the moment, but sometimes disabling javascript on a particular website can solve the problem.

alphamike, you're obviously a wiz at this so if you have any suggestions as to how to remove Tik Tok I would be extremely grateful I have NEVER deliberately downloaded it but its driving me nuts on laptop and phone Someone told me, once you have it, you have it for life, , hopefully that isn't the case.

I've never even see Tik Tok BB!

Is it an app on Windows laptop? Suppose it has to be on phone for sure, android phone?
Afraid that I'm not as sharp as I used to be on the techie front, brain cells and memory are failing me like everything else in the old body.
