House Insurance doubled on 2024

Out agent informed me yesterday our house insurance was due. Last year we paid £300, this year it has doubled to £600 (:Z)( (:Q) ((W\))

Apparently all due to the 'Government' and 'earthquake' cover - we already had that! We are insured with KIBRIS sigorta. TC friend said his insurance went up x 3 last year (Şeker sigorta) and he doesn't bother now- however unwise me thinks. Most TCs I know don't bother with house insurance.

Anyone else had similar rises in house insurance? I can only wonder if these rises are to cover those uninsured, bit like car insurance and a % put in a pot for claims against uninsured drivers. All sounds a bit like a scam to me (:Q)

I don't think it's a scam, I think the severe earthquake in Turkey highlighted the problem if the same happened here. You can always remove the cover of earthquake which several of my customers have done.

I think if you start removing bits of cover then that’s the one that hits you. If you do that take the chance.Remove the lot

Agree, certainly wouldn't remove the earthquake cover, not here where we are located! Shake rattle and roll sure to follow if you do!

Cyprus isn't on a fault line, look and all the knackered old houses that have been standing for over 100 years

Sea Terra sites all have Block Cover, which last year was I think about £40 a year per property.

II would think this if you are going to insurance is a must. I claimed the other year for it. I have also done a lot of insurance related repairs for insurance company for Trevor. So it does happen here

Actually thank you yes, probably as the management company changed last year. ST Reserve does though, or did.
