It's very much the same for everything all over the place now, rampant greed is the order of the day before the Govt gets control as they have been promising for many months. Remember when the shopping trolley examples for around 4 different markets were placed in the newspapers (online) some months back - never seen that for ages and just wonder why??? Will the much famed Bar Code bring it all to a halt? Will the Bar Codes ever be checked and the prices of products displayed in the shops as required by law? Just a few of my dreams.....

I think those Discount shops are one the worst scams in the TRNC. Yes, there is the occasional discount on a yellow ticket because they have bought pallets and pallets of a particular toothpaste or dog food or something. Then there is the infamous 0.01tl reductions all over the place and people are falling for it hook line and sinker. You need to buy a huge trolley of goods (most of which you possibly didn't really need) to save 1tl. I've started to avoid ours like the plague, also there a certain nationality of pushy, arrogant people that seem to have gravitated towards them.

Agree with both Waddo and BB. I've yet to visit the new Esentepe Dima, so can't comment on their prices. Certainly wasn't going for the opening, never do. Will get there one of these days, but shopping is always something to be avoided, in my book.

Bit off topic
Wednesday market ask a price tell you then discount.. ok and how much before the discount….. no comment so walk away.
Hardly any stalls have price on they wait to see what flavor you are then pluck a number from the air.
All pure greed when will they learn

Re Wednesday market. I stopped shopping there over a year ago when I stayed and watched two local women buying veg. How much they bought and how much they paid. I paid the same, but for half the amount. When he handed the bag over I handed it back and asked to make the bags up to one Kg. He walked off and shouted to a teenage boy to serve me. I didn't bother. I can't be bothered with the awful parking in any case.

Atakara (Waggon Wheels type) just gone up to 69,45tl but a hell of a long way from Dima price. I've also noticed that those Discount stores are not always taking this heat into account in the upright fridges.
