Anybody have problems with different sites lately? I have Access Denied messages coming back to me from two different sites -
Access Denied
You don't have permission to access "

Both of those are sites I normally use or are used by my friends to send me cards.

Getting same as you Waddo, but already knew that re your first site. Have you seen the recent thread on what is basically the same problem?
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=59657
Have a read through and there is a free solution.
As an aside, I have noticed that some sites don't like you accessing if you are in Turkiye, and some of our ISP's show that, some show Cyprus, so may not have the same problem.

I was unable to access JL site. I sent a message on Facebook. They replied quickly. Just said access was unavailable in my area. I could get a refund if I wanted. I asked if they knew why access had been stopped and if it would be accessible in future. They weren’t able to say why or if it will be restored. They said try again in a few weeks

All done and problem fixed with Windscribe VPN! Many thanks for all the advice from everyone. Having been deeply involved in comms security in the past I am very suspicious of activity on the Internet of things but understand completely that the only way anyone can be 100% secure is to never, ever use it! In this modern era that is practically impossible so you just do the best you can! With that in mind I purchased the Windscribe Pro for a year - £4.25 a month - and simply let it do its own thing. A small price to pay for everything it offers so now I will spend some time seeing what else it can do - apart from letting me back into my Birthday cards - lol. Thanks again!

I gave up with JL years ago when she sold out and retired, it has gone downhill since then. Switched to Blue Mountain, not as fancy and can be a pain to find what you want but it has always worked. My tight daughter uses 123Greetings.com because it's free and good enough for passing greetings.

Great that you are sorted Waddo. Don't know if you are interested or not, but Windscribe have a no logs policy as recently proved and supported by a court case in Greece.
Windscribe's founder, Yegor Sak, was involved in a legal case in Greece where he was charged in connection with an alleged internet offence by an unknown user of the service. The case centred around a Windscribe-owned server in Finland that was allegedly used to breach a system in Greece. On April 11, 2025, an Athens Court decided to dismiss the case against Sak for lack of evidence of any wrongdoing.
The court's decision affirmed the validity of no-log policies as a legal defense, marking a critical moment for infrastructure operators in the privacy tech sector.
I am in no way suggesting anyone doing anything nefarious, but I think it's good to know that your data is private whilst using Windscribe.

Thanks alphamike, every little helps these days and what I consider nefarious others may not and vice versa! The only "nefarious" actions I could be accused of are the replies that I sometimes send to my long lost brother Mr Umoga Zuluman who is still trying to leave me a fortune in his will, he has stopped contacting me of late when I told him that I was born in Germany to unknown parents of Chinese extraction and then moved to Pago Pago for my University degrees. Maybe he does not believe me!!!!
I have found that the VPN slows down my IPTV and am currently playing with that bit but so far it is easy to use, many thanks.

Waddo.
Yes generally a VPN can slow down streaming. I'd been using Windscribe for a while before getting a paid for smartdns vpn, but have kept Windscribe as a back up.

alphamike, I switch it off when “attempting” to stream F1 but I still have the problem of unstable download speeds with Veezynet and don’t think I will bother with them again, the support is just not there, no answer to emails and I have had enough! Got a couple of months to find a more stable supplier anyway. Meanwhile I just download the full race on a Monday and watch it in peace - lol. The rest of the time the 12 to 13Mb I am getting is good enough for now with the VPN switched on when downloading and normal activity. Happy I can put it on my other Mac’s as well as my phone and iPad!

Waddo, I totally get your frustration with Veezynet and don't blame you for finding someone else. I stupidly renewed and regretting it. Will be looking elsewhere next time. I download to watch stuff, only really stream rugby internationals, but I do youtube too, and it's mostly ok with the latter.
Glad you are happy with Windscribe though, as you said, you can install it on all your devices. Hopefully you can find a better ISP when renewal comes up.

I had similar trouble with VPNs, so based on advice on here, I think, I now use Smart DNS proxy settings on the router, and have no problem with speed and UK channels.

steveodp, did your use of Smart DNS settings cure the original base problem of poor and constantly changing download speeds from your ISP? I feel the need to attack the start first then work my way up - lol.

Lol Waddo. Unfortunately smartdnsproxy doesn't sort out ISP problems with speed, drop outs or whatever other problems I have. When all working at base level, for streaming from sites that ban you due to your location, I'd definitely recommend smartdnsproxy, been using it for a good few years now. Unlike Steveodp, I have the settings on devices rather than router. There was a reason for doing so, but for the life of me can't remember why now.

Maybe because some of the trnc websites don't work unless in country, like The immigration website.

Could well have been Kerry, was so long ago. Afraid that my memory and dealing with techy stuff as I get older, is a bit more challenging.

Unfortunately not, but it doesn't add to the problem.
