If you are not Cypriot then the answer - official - is NO. However, depending who is issuing the TOM (particularly if you go very early in the morning and are lucky) you may end up with 1 year or even 2 years. The problem then is everytime you go through Metahan and show your passport if they ask for your TOM and you have a 1/2 year one then they will take it off you!!! So if they ask you say no, I have to get a TOM and then do that!!
Of course if you make sure you keep your original 1/2 year one as well you still have it don't you, till the next time they check you???
Not suggesting that you do this of course!!!!!

I am not sure that is right? We have a one year one and show it every time, we have never had it taken of us.

MTC - It depends on the policeman who checks your passport!!! The last time I went through Metahan I was asked where my Visa was and why I did not have one!! The "Young" policeman had obviously not been trained in the job he was doing and if it had not been for the lady who was checking ID's in front of him he would have sent me back to the North. He was not interested at all in my car or TOM or Insurance but he was adamant that as a tourist I needed a Visa to come into the RoC!
When you go to the TOM office it is made very plain with a sign on the window what you can get and for non Cypriots it is only ONE DAY! If you have more than that the guy who did it for you is trying to be helpful but it is against the RoC rules - remember they are doing you a favour even letting you into their country!!

EU passport holders are being given two years (at least we were) and it isn’t taken off you. Also no visa required and no 90-day stay limit.

Because Cyprus is in the EU. UK No longer is.
I think Waddo was concentrating on UK passport holders so he was mistaken when he stated ‘Cypriots’.

Nc2016, Yes and No - Cypriots are EU passport holders if they want to be but I did aim my response at UK passport holders who sadly had their EU citizenship stripped from them whether they wanted it or not.
Also, in passing, found out yesterday that Turkish Cypriot (EU passport holders) can also apply for a EU (RoC) driving license! Good news for them if they want to drive/hire car in another EU country! Of course they have to first take lessons and pass the driving test in the RoC which is something that UK passport holders are not allowed to do.
