Early this morning two of us did our usual twice weekly litter pick on the two beaches. We were privileged to meet with the SPOT volunteers who manage and look after the nests. This year is a record with over 540 nests, logger head and Green turtles. These teams of volunteers in their own time spend hours rescuing the baby turtles and releasing them into the sea.

It was great to see a few being released this morning, quite emotional really, some made their own way to the sea, their little legs or whatever they are battling through the sand and rocks. These volunteers should be applauded for all their hard work in preserving wildlife. The society has been going 35yrs and are now seeing their rewards.

In addition, whilst on the beach every now and then a couple of heads pop up from the sea no more that 75yrds out ready to come ashore and lay their eggs, apparently only 1 in 1000 released only make to become an adult.
