This is from a Muhtar's letter in the last week. Just ask at the post office for a stamp for the Muhtar, should be 7.20TL.

I read once that Muhtars are not allowed to charge for a letter.

According to an Estate Agent I spoke to a few days ago they're not, but a "tip or donation" might be requested. It's just opportunism.

Alsancak Letter 100tl plus 38.70 tl stamp yesterday. Be careful where they stick the stamp, if they obliterate their signature a little bit, your bank might complain. I got away with it, but not until a couple of phone call were made. Ozankoy mukhtar a few weeks back charged 200tl

Today I had another Muhktar letter rejected by my Bank . The reason being that the Mukhtar signature was fine, but to be absolutely correct there should be two other signatures underneath Someone from the bank was sent to the Belediye with the letter and it duly came back correctly countersigned signed. The Bank Manager said they were continually having to try and get the letters amended, as some Mukhtar just ignored the rules. It was also explained that the stamp should be 7.5tl (obtained from the PO) NOT the 38.7tl charged by the Belediye.

Whenever we have been to the Muhtar for a letter i.e. for residency, he has been alone, completed his form and signed and stamped it. That has been accepted for Residency. Has something changed? Since when does the Muhktar have two other people with him/her to sign with him?

I've always had to have 2 extra signatures on Muhtar letter (Tatlisu). Sometimes signatures already on paper, other times have to go and get them from the people.

What Muhtars usually have is their pads pre countersigned at the bottom with two separate signatures (this is probably illegal, I neither know nor care) However this time I was in a hurry and didn't notice the missing signatures but I assure you the bank refused to accept it and and a member of the bank was sent back to Alsancak Belediye.
