Was wondering if I buy I car .then do I need a trnc license if I'm a swallow and not staying more than weeks at a time.
Heard many moons ago you needed to exchange your uk license for a trnc one ? Can't do that as I need it firvthe uk. Do I then have to take a test here in the trnc. All sounds a bit silly to me. Appreciate anyone who knows for sure

Whilst you remain on a tourist visa you are legal with your own country driving licence, irrespective of whether you own or rent a car. Once you exchange the tourist visa for residency, exemption, or anything else, then you must have a TRNC driving licence to be legal. You don't exchange your licence, you get the local one in addition to what you already have.

Advise insurance company too, when my brother visited they advised even though the car was not in his name carry a form of identity for his flights to confirm he was only a visitor.
