POWER OUTAGE NATIONWIDE: STATEMENT FROM KIB-TEK

THE AGENDA IS SPECIAL

As a result of an explosion that occurred early in the morning at the Güneşköy Transforming Center in the Güzelyurt region, power plants across the country were out of service. According to the Turkish Electricity Authority of Cyprus, the system protected itself and there were power cuts in all regions. According to the information provided by the organization, the power plants in the regions have been commissioned and the work is continuing and energy is planned to be provided to all regions within about 1 hour.

KIBTEK PRESS RELEASE

An explosion occurred in the cutters in our Güneşköy Transformer Center in Güzelyurt today around 05:00 in the morning and as a result of the explosion there was serious damage to our Transformer Center.

With the occurrence of the malfunction, our power plants have automatically secured themselves for the sake of protection and due to this there have been power outages throughout the country.

Our teams immediately intervened the failure and the Transformer Center was isolated.

After isolation, our power plants were commissioned with regular load increase and our areas have been provided with steady energy.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to the malfunction from our dear people.

Came on at 15:30 in Karsiyaka so just the 11 hours here. I did hear that it might not be back fully and we might only be getting 2 hour bursts in rotation.
I don’t pretend to be an expert at running a power company but maybe if they got their heaviest users to ever pay their bill they might have a bit in the pot to renew stuff. But I’m sure they know what they are doing and constant power cuts can only help attract the multi millionaires to the island

Had our new fridge freezer delivered today, it works just the same as the old one that failed completely on Monday - lol. Maybe it will be better when we get electric back?

Living in a third world country? But I am a third world national - from UK, so I must have left a third world country to become a third world national - How does that work - lol. More to the point, did I move up the scale of 1st to 3rd, stay as I was or move down to 3rd?

I can sort of understand why Kibtek planned one hour cut offs today, after it had been explained to me that today was a sort of tidying up day and they went around checking up that all was well after yesterdays marathon. Anyway It made sense to me !!!!

Again for 30 mins . Doesn’t it seem a bit strange that they do these repairs when everyone wants the electric. Surely it makes more sense to do them in day light hours. Does a load of bollocks come to mind. Me thinks so

I must admit kibtek workers did a marvellous job getting the power back within 24 hours . A statement has gone out full service will not be restored to Wednesday.
At peak times when everything is in use the network must be under a lot of stress.

I gather if I was in my home town I would of also suffered. Made me smile as at least here we are prepared and just get on with it :)

Last night was an absolute nightmare. Is anyone else going through this nightmare every night. I mean I look out and Dipkarpaz is all lit up. So if it’s that major why are they not out also. You think that they would be working on it now. You can see what you are doing.

You must live in an area like ours, we live in the road, in the village that feeds an area up the mountain, it always seems to have longer and more frequent cuts hence the purchase of a generator

I guess as they will sue you or burst into tears for any fair criticism we should all give them a round of applause.
Anyone struggling to think of how to applaud think of that patronising applause you gave the morbidly obese kid waddling in an hour after everyone else on sports day.

Thanks, I have edited my comment, I left a word out.

A worker can only work with the tools they are given and a boss who listens and can give a clear picture of their job.
Yes sometimes it takes a few times to explain job to worker but a boss is only as good as his workers or a one person band.
And it took 3 to 4 days one February and the last big one in July 2022 it took almost a week to get off 1 hour on and 5 to 6 hours off.

When and if we have brown outs I go round and switch everything off, as they are more likely to fuse electrical items. However, you c ould always go out and buy a load of the battery lights/ We have a couple that fit to the walls and will last for around 4 hours. Not expensive, in fact I think you can buy them from Mr Pound and China Bazaar. In assorted sizes.

Have you written and asked?

We know if they can not give everyone electric but almost , we are always cut first for longer. I can understand they then can supply 99% of the village but sometimes the village is in darkness and we have electricity. Our leg supplies a mountain village, many holiday homes so assume not that much electricity compared to other legs within the village.
