Great idea - quick now, double the minimum wage so all the prices can double to get the income to start it off, then in 50 - 100 years time it will all have been forgotten again once the tunnel through the mountains has been started. A vision of the future for sure but who will want to come here then when people have stopped coming now because it is too expensive? Turkeys playground in the making?

Its been allowed here to increase and i think we all know why. Nowhere in europe has salaries this high with such low gdp per capita ..its just doesnt work & there is no economic rationale how the goverment can sustain this moving forward.

Imo the cyprus saga is reaching an end game & hands here will be forced to settle after the election as they will need a huge bail out and will have to play to the tune of the pied piper whoever that will be. Tatar wins its turkey & erhuman eu cyprus. I think its a binary event and the election will have big ramifications. Then again i could be completely wrong and everything will be the same in 20 years..i know the greeks are worried with trump potentially forcing ukraine to give up land and settle ..setting a precedent of how disputes can be brought to an end.

I love Mersin and if you want HUGE shopping Malls then Adana is the place to go. I sat on 15th floor balcony of the Hilton and watched the world go round a nearby roundabout, it was hilarious at times. The Hilton is very reasonable (do your own negotiations) Its not somewhere to spend a fortnight , but a long weekend is great. and the train fare from Adana to Mersin was less than a pound return. This was 4 years ago, but can't believe it has gone up too much.

Good shopping in mersin to forum not far from hilton . Tried the fast boat from kyrenia to tasucu .took 3 hours i loved it to be honest but my wife was very very sick on the way back. The airport is now in cukorova . We got a bus from tasucu to mersin that cost 150 tl but i dont recommend that it took 3 hours...on the return got a coach 450 tl more comfortable 2 hours. Local buses are 30 tl taxi reasonable to. Had a shave 100 tl. Also the marina is very nice shops coffee shops & boats. Theres also sayapark a new mall but not been yet. We have family in mersin so been many times. Bought a gold bracelet 22 ct the same here they are asking 60% more..take a trip and buy the wife some gold
