A friend in Ozankoy is looking for a recommendation for someone to trim/dress a palm tree beside their pool. It's roughly 35 feet high.

The guy is called erdal. Used him twice but last time ripped us off. We agreed a price for cutting 8 trees & clearing rubbish. He cut them then wanted double the cost for taking away.

We were also ripped off by him last time although he’d been doing ours for years. We thought that he might be returning to Turkey so was making hay while the sun shines

I know we are not in your area, we used Lapta Belydie last year it was the equivalent of £11a tree last year, they cut the palms but we had to arrange for them to be removed. Last year a contractor wanted over £110 each tree. Why not try your local Belydie for a quote you could save a lot of money

He has done our trees many times, we agree a price before hand and stick to it, not a penny more and he knows it. Shame if he has overcharged people his work rate is second to none.

Unfortunately he arrives on a bike and you have to sort out the rubbish yourself. A task that is getting harder

About once a month I see a large Alsancak Belediye lorry complete with a fitted grabber picking up large piles of garden rubbish (not the odd black bin liner). The rubbish can sit there for a few weeks before it disappears. I,m assuming you just go into office and let them know address and type and they turn up eventually when they have enough to make it worth their while.

That's right = let them know the address & they will call to collect it - leaving the bill behind!!
Usually 600 to 1,000 TL, depending on how much stuff there is,
If your gardener cuts the branches up & stacks it neatly in 5 or 6 bin bags, it's only about 200 - 300 TL.

Catalkoy seem to work differently to others then! Some time back we had a similar system but the houses closest to the rubbish always got a separate hand written bill when it was picked up, unless the house was not being used at that time then you got a bigger bill. It was a good service, rubbish collected regularly and the fee was fair - we thought so anyway - then it changed.
Now all the little bits we used to get along with the water bill have appeared to have been averaged out for every house in Catalkoy - use them or not, the service is provided - into a single payment for “Services” of 724,48tl a month which is added to the water bill. Over the past 6 months I have found the service to be excellent, rubbish is picked up regularly, the streets are clean and for £13 a month they beat the service I used to get in the UK 18 years ago, for both cost and action. Small areas of unused ground are used as waste collection points in my area and the collection trucks remove anything left there. A good system.

Catalkoy is brilliant for cleaning, roadside maintenance, gardeners out on regular basis. Rubbish collected twice a week and as Waddo said trucks collect garden waste promptly, all in water bill no longer one person paying for everyone else garden waste.
