Paid 10240.40TL 2 weeks ago for 2 years health insurance. Haven't been asked for the residency fee yet but guessing around 6324TL based on the increase of the health insurance.

Yes! Terrible to have to pay £12.55 a month to be able to live here. All those who wish to can get back on the boats to wherever they came from of course and save all that money - lol. Winter (December, January and February) is the UK's coldest season, with freezing temperatures, icy conditions and sometimes snow. Grass is not always greener I guess?

Waddo, no its not greener, its a trick of the light, and we still have to pay UK tax which is my biggest whinge.

BJB, You are not alone in having to pay UK income tax - I have tried and tried to get out of that but with my pensions all coming from the MoD or the State (that would be the old age pension that is not subject to income tax BUT is subject to reducing the amount of tax free allowance you get) means that everything I get is taxed at source!!! It's a bit like that here as well because for residency you have to meet the minimum wage (Gross) which is a mystery to meet when everything else - traffic fines etc - are based on the minimum wage (Net). Just another way of skinning the cat I guess - lol. Still happy here, made the right choice after lots of planning so no real surprises and should be able to stay till I go in the ground. Been back to UK once in the last 18 years - big mistake - won't bother again, not even the lure of pork pies and fish and chips can take me back to the country I fought for and loved many years ago. Too many people living on handouts - sorry benefits - then moaning about not having enough - GOYA is the word they need to learn. Enough, if people don't like it here then they made the wrong choice but it's not the country's fault in the end, everyone should be aware of progress - all things change in time!

I have a friend (yes I have one or two) who is now considered to be Non Dom in UK and pays no UK tax, but receives UK pensions. I haven't a clue how it all works, there was property in UK which was officially bequeathed to family there. More than that I haven't a clue how it works,
