Been talked about by the powers in charge here for some time. Now looks imminent. The big players in charge running this ie hotels.
If its anything like turkey imposed its will be brutal..
Some properties impossible to get a license a 20 % kdv charge a tourist tax then any left taxed as income...
They dont want all these foreigners who bought flats in iskele to be making any money..it will be another huge kick in teeth for the propery market and developers...
Ive purposely steered clear of short lets because of this its hard enough without kdv & licensing...the hotels have rooms to fill...if you check out some of the low prices offered its unlikely many are paying taxes but thats their business. Seems their number is up...i think for many they will throw the towel in. No details of taxes or license criteria as its still being debated. My guess as the country has a deficit anything that raises taxes will be pushed through quickly.

Re: Short term rental license & tax
I translated some for anybody interested:
Aktunç stated that with the new regulation, Airbnb homes will be registered with the Tourism Planning Department , obtaining a business license and registration, thus providing more reliable service. He added, "Thanks to this system, guests will stay safely and the state will generate tax revenue. Most importantly, unfair competition in tourism will be eliminated."
I think in turkey they brought in the license then when everybody registered they added the kdv/vat...
What seemed unfair was in turkey like here hotels pay 10% kdv & they slammed short term rentals with a 20% charge...its bound to make short lets more expensive and less choice the beneficiary here will be the hotels.
