Driving licence - Residency - exemption??

Hi all,

As far as I understand it, when you are granted residency you can no longer drive on your home county's driving licence and have to apply for a TRNC driving licence. Does the same rule apply if you apply for and are granted residency 'exemption'?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Good question

I may well be corrected on this, but as far as i know there is a time limit (maybe 6 months/1 year) that you are allowed to drive on another countrys' licence before having to apply for a local licence.

In the TRNC it might well be aligned to the 90 day permit.
I look forward to a definitive answer on this

Best ask this question of the police at Girne Station!

Definitive answer. There is no time limit applied to getting a license. Once you are no longer on a tourist visa you must apply for a local license, so this applies for residency, exemption, work permit etc.

I think I know the answer, but if someone no longer drives, hence no D.L. other than carrying a PP all the time, how do they provide ID.
