Sorry, that's my fault, I mentioned this morning we have not had a power cut for over 6 months! Now that's done it!

Its clearly in connection with all the road building in the Karakum area. At least you get enough warning to switch stuff off on time and check up on diesel if you have to top up jennies. When we were having our four lane highway built here in Alsancak, this happened regularly for yearly two years.

As you say BB, it's not so bad if you are aware and can be prepared. It's the sudden cuts, not knowing how long it's going to last, and no explanation from Kibtek on their FB page or in the press. At least nowadays, not having a jenny, I do have rechargeable and solar lighting, and much as I'd like to get rid of the gas hob, not a chance in hell of that.

Agree re getting rid of gas hob which is flat, white and easy to clean. If things were different here I'd invest in an Induction cooktop. Fabuloso!!!!! however ALL my pots and pans would have to go and replaced with pans with magnetic bases. My German stuff cost a fortune so I'll stay as as I am.

I got a single induction portable years ago, it really is superb. Luckily my stainless steel pots were suitable for induction. I'd be happy with the other way round, single gas and full sized induction, but as it is, and I'm not made of money, things will have to stay the way they are.
