I was always lead to believe the human being, was supposed to be one of the most intelligent mammals on planet earth!!
The government doesn't stand a chance of cutting down R T A's until the human shows some respect!!!

On the way to the ⛳ club before the rain, we were undertaken by cement lorry and overtaken by white car outside sultans!! And the white car turned at the next right junction by the marble factory, oncoming traffic too
Felt like Ricardo Zonta, in between Schumacher and Mika Häkkinen

Well at least think yourself lucky, they could have been aquaplaning as well. I used that word at one of large car hire companies and the owner had absolutely no clue what I was talking about. Sad isn't it.

At least there wasn't an accident, thank goodness. It's so scary driving here with so many lunatics on the road.

The roads here are considered to be a race track by default

I would just like to ask why they both thought it was a safe manoeuvre.
But I gather from previous traffic posts the drivers who text and drive never look at these posts. Yes a small percentage of the human race can speak and drive but surely nobody can think they can write or read using their phone while driving!

Accident in Karakum on Wednesday evening caused traffic to be diverted , driver of the car which is believed to have crossed the middle section, fled the scene the local papers reported.

From local KP paper Maybe this answer the question

22 drunk drivers were reported in traffic controls, 57 vehicles were banned from traffic
331 drivers were reported for various traffic offenses and legal proceedings were initiated against them, while 57 vehicles were banned from traffic and 1 driver was arrested.

The reported traffic offenses are; 128 of them driving at a speed above the legal speed limit, 22 of them driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages, 2 of them driving without a driving license and without insurance coverage, 13 of them driving without insurance, 7 of them using a mobile phone while driving, 16 of them driving without wearing a seat belt, 17 of them driving without an inspection, 33 of them driving without a navigation license, 1 of them driving dangerously, 15 of them not complying with traffic signs

Yes the human being definitely has to learn respect, responsibility, use their brain for their actions on the road. Those that do not agree please advise why it is ok to use your phone, overtake/undertake just to hopefully arrive at your destination up to maybe 15 minutes earlier.
It's not the roads, lack of lighting, it's not taking in the conditions of where/ what you are driving on.

I can only agree regarding the stupidity, will refrain from using stronger language. I think the only thing that might work is to impound vehicles for a good length of time fitting the crime, the threat of being without a vehicle for say 6 months or longer, might just get some to take notice.

Quite agree alphmike unfortunately big fines and points on license isn’t working …still speeding, drink driving and the amount of people turning in front of you or overtaking on phones .
Police are trying but still rules are abused .. lock them up if caught… ban drivers for a lengthy time crush car might just make them think…. Before they ruin innocent family lives, it’s rarely their own is it……

Another thought…BIG FINES OR CRUSH ALL REMOVED the cars illegally parked on the pavements, Your pushed to walking in the road, where you take your life in your hands. Very dangerous for people pushing wheelchair's and prams ….

Or do as Lapta high the pavement then they cant park...

Well you did ask so here goes.

Using phone whilst driving - no argument here. If you are physically holding and operating your phone whilst driving that is unsafe and irresponsible and should not be done. Such behaviour should be and is illegal, though the police here in my experience are just as guilty of this as other drivers.

Overtaking. Overtaking in and off itself is not in my opinion by definition unsafe, irresponsible or disrespectful. Overtaking can be done irresponsibly and dangerously and it can also be done safely, responsibly and respectfully (and legally). Just like pulling out of a minor road onto a major one can be done safely and responsibly or unsafely and irresponsibly.

Undertaking. In my opinion undertaking is more often than not the result of the person being undertaken being more disrespectful and irresponsible than the person doing the undertaking. To drive on a road with two lanes in each direction with a speed limit of 65km/h and sit in the outside lane doing 40km/h and steadfastly refusing to move over to the inside lane is dangerous, irresponsible and disrespectful. It is in my experience here a very common behaviour yet does not seem to be on your 'list'.

...and the latest news is that the authorities are planning to reduce the penalties for motoring offences because "Drivers think that they are too harsh".

I have no problem with being overtaken in a safe place, I am one of those annoying drivers @65kph. Most road surfaces, are not good here, especially the alagadi esentepe road.
Yes always taught hug the hedge, double white lines are brick walls, if turning right, mirror , indicate, move towards the white line so if the cars behind are all hugging the hedge, my intention to turn right is visible to not just the car behind.
Outside sultans going east the road surface is not even tarmac therefore there is a lower speed limit, we don't like damaging our car, therefore driving at a sensible speed, a concrete mixer undertaking on what I doubt has even been laid properly yet and the future pavement area and a car which yes he did have the room to overtake but to turn right a few yards after we got back on proper tarmac,
Too many innocent parties are getting hurt.

Thank you :)

I try to respect other road users, road signs, conditions but it does scare me out there now.
