I loaded Windows 11 pro onto my new laptop last month from

https://www.gamers-outlet.net/en/buy-wi ... oft-global

Easy to do. No problems, works fine - all for £6.

Retail means you can transfer to another machine in the future. OEM means it will be linked to the motherboard of your laptop and is non transferable (it is usually cheaper).

Ok. Gone on site. Registered as it says feel a bit nervy with giving bank card details etc. Obviously they need paying. With all the fraud going on..is it safe. What's to stop them taking more than the cost ?. Site is an American one. ? Unsure.

It is always a risk buying anything online these days. I have bought Windows 11 Pro and Microsoft Office from them without any issues. They have 38000 reviews on Trustpilot (4.6). Sometimes products look too cheap to be legitimate. However, large computer companies buy millions of licences for Windows products at a time. Those they don't use they sell for pennies to third party companies. If you are worried, buying directly from Microsoft might be the best option.

Went ahead with the site and paid. Was expecting to download to my laptop. Gave 3 options what to do next. 1. Ring either of 2 numbers. (Not worked) did not understand the other 2 . Gave up in the end. . Thankfully only £14 wasted. Rang a computer repair shop to see what they charge.
Over £100 for windows 11. Alone! Only needed it for excellent and word. Will manage without as laptop only vost £200. ! . Sure it was easy for someone with good computer skills. Sadly that puts me our of the equation.

Have you thought of trying out free Libre Office which has similar functions to MS Word and Excel?

https://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/

You can download directly from the website (dropdown choice for downloads at top of page)

Or you can download from Microsoft Store

Unfortunately installing Windows 11 or any operating system isn't as straightforward as just downloading a file and then clicking "run". There are good tutorials on YouTube, but you will need access to the internet and a usb drive. Could you take the activation key you have bought (it's in your account if you login) to a computer shop and ask them to install windows for you? It would only cost them time as you already have bought Windows? Should be a lot less than £100.

do i get it correct, your laptop was 200 GBP?
if so, it most probably is not possible to run win 11 due to old hardware.
the questions (ring numbers) could be an indication...
