Tasty mature or vintage cheddar

I don't know if my taste buds are changing with age or what, but am finding that whatever Cheddar I try here, it's all a bit bland. Kerrygold and Emborg just don't do it. I haven't seen any Cathedral City or Kings for ages, which I did like, and haven't seen any vintage for quite some time. Any recommendations or where to find a decent cheddar east side? I know that Sah might be my best bet, and hopefully they will have something a bit better tasting.

Ah, thank you, I will head there this week. Well done FP and much appreciated. Give me a chance to explore Dima Esentepe way, still not been in there since it opened.

There is a brand of mature cheese called London 1856 which is good. Supreme stock it.

Sah supermarket catalkoy has some excellent cheeses. Black Bob cheddar is particularly good. A bit pricey but if you are looking for tasty cheeses, sah.

Thank you both very much, haven't heard of either of those, so will investigate.

Black Bob is excellent - it comes with a thick protective covering moulded around it, lovely for a cheese board!

Was looking at sundry cheeses this afternoon Emburg. Cathedral City etc and the slices were so thin it would have been difficult to grate them, let alone cut into a slice. Two toasted cheeses would just about make it. Can't remember the cost but I did say out loud, "Not bloody likely" to the amusement of an English speaking TC standing next to me, who said, "I just can't believe these prices since we were here last September, Its ridiculous. "

mrs Gee, I quite successfully burned the skin on top and followed the recipe which I won't do again, Far too sweet for my taste, but will give it another go, cutting down on sugar.

Those really thin packs of cheese are a total waste of time, very difficult to slice or grate, you end up with chunks, so a waste of money when you use the packet in one go, plus it's rarely tasty cheese. I wish more supermarkets would have a proper cheese counter, but suppose most are happy buying ready packed.
One of the good things about becoming an adult was that I didn't have to eat baked rice pudding ever again, and I haven't.

Absolutely hated the skin.

I love skin on top of rice pudding when the cinnamon is liberally sprinkled. then you scrape all the lovely brown edges at the end. Love the thick skin on the top of custard as well. You can tell I spent a long time at Boarding School can't you!!
