Those prices are ridiculous. I'll stick with going to Petek's in Iskele and leave the Grand Sapphire to those who have more money than sense.

There has to be something more to it. I passed it a couple of months ago & the terrace and lobby bar was very busy...maybe too busy...

The only conclusion i can come to is they have increased prices so much to deter almost everyone...its like a 500% increase from prices from a few months ago. I had a friend stay in the hotel and they dudnt think much of it..others better same price.

Think there is something in what you say Reyntj if they have put increases of 500% on their drinks menu, it's very excessive to say the least. Just look at their prices for water.

Isn't it all inclusive if you stay there , perhaps that's the price if you bring a friend in?

On another note ironically I think the best value there is to buy a bottle of the finest Malt Whiskey they have seems miles better value than a few cappuccinos LOL!!

At Ercan the other morning, 1 cappuccino and black coffee 950tl. Cafe outside Arrivals, unfortunately it's flashed so fast at you, I just thought airport prices but only 385tl at SG Istanbul for a cappuccino, I am wondering if the young lady included the young man's order on mine as when she gave me the coffee she added you are together?

I think you may find the price charged was correct. I paid nearly £15 last year for a Turkish coffee and an egg sandwich. Never again.

Went into Girne, thought we would have a beer in the newly furnished hotel on the right side top off Girne, used to be a lovely setting in the garden piano playing in the evening ,we were the only ones there, ordered 2 large FS beers, small 330mil beers came said they didn’t serve large ones, drank then asked for bill, 2x330 mil - 500 lira, told the waiter thought it was very expensive, even he seemed embarrassed, also told the guy on the till,no wonder you don’t have any customers,he just shrugged.😡

Fewer people go, so they charge those that do more, so fewer people go.

Great business 😄

Not really my point was correct twice & a person acted.as per their name...

£4 for an 330 ml is the price for a beer in most uk pub..
Given the salaries & rents here thats no surprise..people open hotels to make money not give subsidised drinks...

As per the thread c £16 for a 330 ml is expensive & a bimbo comes on here crying about £4...either they are ignorant of not reading any of the thread or as i said...

Just my 2 pennyworth

BUT £4 for an 330 ml is the price for a beer in most uk pub..

We are not in the UK, where wages/cost etc are a lot higher than here AND supermarkets sell small EFS for 50Tl, resale in bars being 250 Tl means a 500% markup at least. RANT OVER

Your rant has no substance corona in sainsburys is £18.99 for 18 bottles pubs average selling price £4.50-£5.00..many other examples spirits wines etc...this notion that bars hotels in trnc should run at a loss is nonsense...

The threads about 650 tl tea etc in grand sapphire....the folk complaining about £4 beers would be crying in most parts of the world ...and rents salary ability to make a profit are not to different to uk unless you have your head in the ground the last 4- 5 years...minimum wage here is higher than many countries in europe.

From google Based on 2026 data, the average price for a beer in a European bar is quite varied, but a typical 330ml to 500ml serving in a restaurant or bar generally falls within the range of €3.00 to €7.00.

£4 in a hotel is average..£16 is not...those.moaning about £4 will likely be spending the rest of their days doing so about the price of fish etc...

You CANNOT compare prices in the UK OR Europe to prices here, thats false.

If you really want to compare prices use accurate data , not flights of fancy.

I CAN ....why are you typing things in capitals ...its not false thats simple stupidity..

Mark ups are clearly similar here to everywhere else in europe & the uk..clearly you are unable to grasp that concept ....false to compare things ...what utter nonsense...says who...thats not a well known concept rule..

I was clearly comparing the mark up which was what you where complaining about...you dont even seem to understand what your rant is...

Im.glad you posted the numbeo though as it clearly states the average for a beer at c 240 tl ...so why is bimbo complaining for paying 250tl..

Once again the thread is about a place that is charging 1000 tl....4x the average....if you want to rant about why bars mark.up bottles so much.join a worldwide forum and complain there...you might find they have a thing called overheads and taxes and are in business to make a profit...

From google please digest.
The average markup on bottled beer in bars is typically 200% to 300%, with profit margins on bottled beer around 75%. While this is the standard, markups can go as high as 500% for inexpensive macro-brews, while craft beers may have lower percentage markups due to higher wholesale costs.Key Takeaways on Beer Pricing:Typical Markup: 200–300% (or 3x–4x the wholesale cost).Macro Brews: Often marked up higher (up to 500%) because the cost per bottle is very low.

Id suggest efes is a macro brew...i wish people would stop moaning about trnc like its different elsewhere they are living in some sort of fantasy world...

Id also suggest any moaning open their own bar and see how they get on...

I have recently returned from a couple of weeks in UK and many of the items in our nearby very swish Waitrose were cheaper than Sha and Illelis. Of course not everything. However our local Tesco was amazing with loads of Lidl comparisons clearly marked. Buckets of free apples handed out to to children and other fruit and veg slashed to encourage healthy eating. What particularly interested me was many eateries etc were showing the SUGAR tax on the final bill.

Tesco has been giving the free fruit for some time and it's a good thing instead of throwing them away as waste. I was in our local one last week and the box of apples was no where near the produce isle, it was on the window sill after coming out of the checkouts. It's a gimmick unfortunately from a Company that has £3 billion sitting in their bank as clear profit. However, our food prices in UK are predicted to rise another 10% by September. Morrisons have just announced 100 store closures throwing the blame clearly at the door of this Government. M&S have just announced that the price cap on certain foods that Rachel Reeves wants to do as proprosterous. My biggest gripe at the moment is the price of toothpaste. The top end of Oral B is, and has been since last year, selling at £20 for 75ml.

Its not really too much of a surprise as waitrose has £7.5 billion revenue ...sha is 1 shop in a relatively small island in the med..doesnt quite have the economies of scale buying power supply etc of waitrose..

As the supermarkets all stock the same items here my guess is theres only 1 supplier controlling the whole show..uk supermarkets have whole divisions negotiating direct.
