Dog at Petline, owner being contacted.

I really hope that was because the dog was chipped. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND ANYONE NOT DOING THAT.

Money unfortunately.

Don't think it's just money, although that does play a part. Look at all the hunting dogs who are abandoned when they are no longer of any use. If they were chipped it would be easy to find their owner.
Some of the dog charities do offer free spaying, not sure about chipping. I'll try to find out re the latter. I know that dogs and pups picked up by Rob's Rescues and Tatlisu Rescue Dogs are taken for spaying as a matter of course. It's a thankless task though, as there are a high number of strays in this region, and no doubt everywhere else. As soon as they are kind of getting up to date, more are abandoned. We've got 3 who come to get shade on our estate at certain times of the day, 2 have been done, the other has proved very evasive around humans, and impossible to catch so far. They are no bother at all, well that is, apart from my dog who goes loopy at them, so I always know when they are about.

AM, you can always tell when the Army regiment or battalion or brigade aare on the move back to where ever, mostly Turkye . Families take on a dog or more, plus cats, but they are not allowed to return with them. The Army rounds them up and takes them to a central area, opens the back of the lorry and then drive off. I haven't seen this with my own eyes but know people that have.

Interesting BB, had never heard of that. Definitely never seen it, but there are no army camps in my vicinity. It's really cruel to just abandon them if they have been used to being in a home situation, better not taking them on at all if they know they can't keep them, a bit like foreign students.
