Title says it all really - thank you to the many people who turned up at Girne Hospital for one of the BRS Blood Donation sessions, the first of 2013. Though I did not stay til the end, I believe there were more than 54 units of blood - that was the score when I had to leave! So major thanks to those people - and to the people who came but were unfortunately turned down for perhaps high/low blood pressure or some other transitory ailment - we hope to see you next time.
Prior warning to others - next session is at the Lambousa Market on April 20th - hope to see even more of you there!
Stop press: off topic - we open our new venue this coming Wed - we will now be available for help, advice, renewals etc the 1st and 3rd Wed of the month at Cafe George in the middle of Girne, from 10-12noon. This is instead of being at St Andrew's church hall.
Saturday Blood donations - thanks

What a pity the cut off age for donation is 6o, I,m sure many of us "older" residents would be happy to give a pint to help others.

Next Black Olive is May 11th and on April 20th they will be at Lambousa.
I believe cut off is 65 if you've been a regular donor, but not sure. We are trying to persuade the TRNC powers that be that they should follow the example of Uk (and others) and take anyone who has been a regular donor for as long as they like, if they are fit,as I gather it is felt the over 70's are fitter than the youngsters these days!!

I don't know what the official cut off is in UK but as a regular donor with O Neg I am invited 3 times a year, I am over 65 and will be donating my 62nd next week.
My plan is to move over (Tatlisu) when I no longer have my cats and hope I can still donate.
