Been on to Filmon who advised British channels will now only be available to view in the UK! I was in the middle of Holby City when it suddenly disappeared, so diasappointed, what am I going to watch in the evenings?

RIP filmon... After having to remove US based channels, also removing UK based channels is a big blow. I feel sorry for people who has paid for any filmon services or anobody who has invested in any filmon based system as they are very unlikely to get any refund.

@Maisiemoo
Lucky for Multimax customers who gets 10 free channels from NTV including BBC and ITV.
NTV also has a premium package where you get more than 65 UK channels. Check http://www.ntv.mx for details.

@Harita
What do you exactly mean by 'nothing will open regarding Multimax'?

I don't live here full time so don't want to commit to a subscription service. At least I can catch up on the soaps with youtube & they have some full length films as well.

Harita you can still use filmon.com to watch UK chanels if you are a multimax customer. You just need to use our free manual VPN to make it look like you are in the UK.

Where people will have a problem is if they bought a Set top box, advertised as giving access to 'all the popular, free to air, UK TV channels' and that 'doesn't need to be connected via an extra proxy or, a VPN connection'. If this change by filmon is permanent then these boxes will no longer give access to UK channels unless you use a VPN service. If you are a multimax customer you can use our free VPN but if you are with a provider that does not offer such then you will have to pay monthly for the VPN service which are available from many different providers or try and use one of the 'free' ad sponsored services which are generaly not that reliable. Still a bit of a downer if you bought a certain set top box to watch UK channels on the basis that it was a one off payment and did not require a VPN.

Hi Erol, I have multimax internet connection but I pay for a private vpn so have been able to watch Filmon. Now I have lost the UK channels too. So why do you think I have a VPN but still lost the uk channels.

I do not have a Multi Max VPN, I have my own which I pay for from the UK.
I have just done a test with Filmon, tried to connect without the VPN on there was no UK tele.
Connected to my VPN HAY PRESTO there they are, all the UK channels.
So still no problem, anybody can find a UK VPN on the internet to watch UK tele.

If you Google UK VPN it will give you a number of sites that provide this service.
Have a read at their service, then email them and ask if they can install the programe via TEAM Viewer for you, if they can they will talk you through the setup.
It costs about £50 per year, when you want to watch UK tele all you do is connect you VPN and away you go.
You can watch all the UK tele catchup programmes also live UK tele from ITV BBC ect.

I have been told there is a VPN supplier in Karakum at the same price but I do not know who it is, maybe one of the forum members will know, but they will come and set it up for you.

Hope this is of some help.

Foodie I have tested filmon.com with both the free multimax manual VPN and with a third party pay for service and using either one is giving some UK channels on filmon.com. I am not sure why your paid for third party VPN is not doing this ? Are you sure you were conected to the VPN when you tried it ? If you are you could try contacting your third party VPN supplier or you could just use the Multimax free VPN service (details of how to configure this if you are a MM customer can be found on this link http://mmcyp.com/index.php?option=com_k ... 38&lang=en)

It does seem however that filmon.com as well as geo restrciting access to UK channels has also severly reduce the amount of UK channels they are carrying. So without a VPN I get no UK channels. With a VPN I get UK channels but only 5 channels, which is much less than they used to offer.

questions for multimax

We are thinking of changing our internet provider to Multimax, two questions please.

1. I understand if you register with multimax you can access 10 channels free, if that is correct how do you register please?

2. What is the cost for the internet package for a year, including the TV package.

Although it pains me to change because I still have 8 months with my current provider.

Question for forum readers: I used to get BBC and ITV through their respective players, when I try now now both say " content not available try later" anyone else had this message?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Yes we do provide our customers we 10 UK channels (free and as is). Two of the channels are 'fixed', these are BBC1 and ITV1. The other 8 channels change periodically. Currently they are E4, More 4, Al Jazeera news,Sky classic movies, film 4, comedy central extra, sky sports f1, sky sports news and trace sports. To access these channels (on a laptop or PC) you simply goto the ntv.mx website and register a (free) account and provided you are on your multimax connection you will have access to them.

I got in touch with filmon yesterday and they state that they now no longer carry these channels, only BBC1, ITV1, BBC N Ireland, Channel 4 and 5. They said these are the only channels which will be able to be watched in the UK now. They did apologize. I also got in touch with Myprivatenetwork and it seems now you must have an active subscription with Filmon direct. Please if anyone finds a way to get the Really Channel as I was in the middle of watching Masterchef Australia.

I am very puzzled by these comments because my husband has been watching the racing at Cheltenham today on channel 4. Absolutely no problems whatsoever, earlier I watched the Chaser (a quiz show).

Foodie's post 28 correctly lists the UK channels that are now available.
Unfortunately ITV Channels 3 and 4, Yesterday, US Channel 5 and the 'Film' channel have been dropped.
Filmon must have done their financial homework but the current programme choice is markedly inferior to that which we enjoyed previously.

Suehowlittle, filmon.com used to offer about 20 UK channels all without the need of a VPN. Now they offer 5 - BBC1 &2, ITV 1, C4 and C5. For a day or so the channels available was varying throughout the day, from none to all the used to offer at times requiring a VPN and at other not. Now things seem to have settled again and there is a statement on the filmon.com site that reads "Unfortunately due to a recent European court ruling, services such as ours have had to restrict the viewing of certain channels to their respective countries, therefore the only UK TV channels available will be the 4 main terrestrial channels.". How and if things will change again in the future can not be known.

You are right, I have now lost all the other channels you mentioned.
Filmon posted a message saying they were braking EU law, ( in sort ).
The remaining channels are all you need, the ones they removed were not of a good quality viewing ( childrens channels ect ).
I will be leaving for Turkey soon for 4 months holiday, when I return I will be looking for a better internet link, as at the moment it is very slow (ADSL).
Thank you for all the information you supply free to this forum.
