Kibkom North Cyprus Forum

Just wondered if Kibkomers would be interested in having a Kibkom Daily Online Newspaper? If so, would you like to contribute and even have your own column to maintain? Are there any budding cartoonist that would like to add their work for all to see? Short Articles, Recipe section, Joke of the Day....all welcome.

And what about some of those terrific photographers out there contributing 'What I saw today!' or similar. I reckon we would need a good few folk to maintain a daily on line paper, but there is a lot of talent among these great band of Kibkomers.

Hmmm. Thanks Barbie - I wonder to whom you are referring. But I am happy to be an Agony Aunt - had the training and lived the life! so come on, pm me the questions and i will do a column. perhaps we could call it 'The Agony and the Ecstacy' - remember the film - but of course with no tablets!!!!

I think its a great idea, wont a daily be hard to keep up though?

Great idea Soner, but, slightly I tried to reply to your pm re 'bouncing' and registration and it just will not send, so sorry if you think I am being impolite by not replying.

So come on guys. From, the huge number of members we have on here, there is ltitle repsonse to encourage soner as to whether he does or doesn't..... set up a newspage. I think he would like to know whether you lovely people out there would like, one, and secondly as to who might be happy to contribute.
There is a lot of work involved in such a project, and I know Soner would need a lot of help.

So... let's have osme honesty, please.

It all depends on whether people only read this forum then a newspaper would be beneficial, however I suspect there are many who read and are members of other forums.

There are a couple of forums who cover TRNC news.
Frank and Joan blog is resurrected now they have returned.
Esentepe has a website and there is What's on Where.
There is a community site called Cyprus Scene.

I suggest Soner have look to see (if he hasn't already) to see if the Kibcom newspaper will offer something different.
Just my thoughts, as Marion says it would involve time and effort, something I am sure Soner does not have a great deal of.

I'm happy to contribute, but daily is too much for me, maybe once a week, sometimes a few words with a photo, sometimes a little article, i.e. 'Letter from Dipkarpaz'

I know I am going to get shot down in flames, but I am not personally interested in reading personal blogs of people who live here, nor indeed on line papers, cos I am too busy trying to contribute to a newspaper. But I would of course support Soner as much as possible for an on line KibKom news, because it is linked to something that is part of my life, and I know that it has a potential to reach 3000 people plus, or indeed to have input from them. I would hope it would be bigger than a 'blog' although it might contain inputs from many smalloer 'bloggers'.

However, it needs to have that input, or it will become another 'spud' - by that I mean 'too many I's/eyes' like a potatoe past its sell by date.

so don't hate me for my honesty, but it would be good to have some honesty from everyone else, and more definite input on whether 'yes', 'nop#' or maybe' to help Soner decide whether it is a good and viable idea.

May be a daily would involve too much , once or twice a week would be enough . I only get my news from here( the forum ) and the Friday paper any way . Good luck Soner with what ever you choose to do

You are correct Carol. A daily is a HUGE amount of work and probably not needed nor appreciated. Remember Cyprus Times? Or was that before your time? there are those who say that CT twice a week is too much. We don't want to get to the state that we ha din Wales, when my last husband used to say 'so little happens here that it is front page news when a magpie falls out of its nest.'

Maybe a weekly that could have NIB's (news in Brief) added here and there.

It's all in English and they keep it up to date, with new articles published every day. I don't really think we need another news site.

On a back burner, maybe no real need.
