I saw this and emailed BBC breakfast. Can't believe how they could make such a simple mistake.

I don't think its a sense of humour at all, I think it's a matter of being totally ignorant of the situation over here. Lets be honest if you took a straw pole within the BBC, the vast majority wouldn't have a clue that the island was two countries (I emphasise two separate countries!!)

At the risk of being shot down in flames. Under the eyes of international law it is not two separate countries much as we believe it should be and the sooner it is recognised as such the better.

I have had several e.mails both today and yesterday, saying how sorry my friends and relations are in UK and Ireland, regarding the financial losses we're to experience! Despite many of them having visited here, they still really have no idea that we are separate entities.

he news is stll talking of the Russians withdrawing their money from Cyprus - the sovereign State of..... no less. I had a message from a friend in Australia questioning whether we were affected. So it seems few people know. I wonder whether the House of Lords could make a statement, especially as Meral Ece is a Cypriot and a Baroness. But in a sense who cares? And as long as we are o.K, I guess we can stick our heads in the sand the same as the rest of the world because until the world recognises that we exist as a separate place, I reckon we just get on and enjoy the good things. Excuse me while I rush off to put my head back in the sand, where I can no longer see the ridiculous and heart breaking situations that exist because of THAT LINE inNicosia.

Maybe I am wrong ( and I expect some one will soon tell me ) but I think its good we have that green line at the moment , other wise the whole island would be in trouble not just the south

Aljazeera also show a nice panoramic view over Lefkosa with the Selimiye Mosque in centre of picture. Cannot see flags but an excellent photo anyway!!
