Will they be able to see 'visitors' or only registered patients?

Maisiemoo,

Visitors to the island will also be able to use the practise especially in an emergency situation.

Also i did not word the original post very well. It is a 24 hour service and there will always be an English speaker at the other end of the phone.

If coming from the Lapta area, on the bypass as you come down the hill into Girne at the roundabout turn right as if heading for Bellapais, you will see a shop called Electrokur on your left, just after that turn left and you will see the surgery in front of you mickyron.

Thank you, will put the number in my phone. Husband has health problems, so useful to have number to ring if he needs to see a doctor when we're out.

I am WELL impressed with this service.
I made an appointment, was greeted with a smiley face on arrival, in my experience, that is an achievment on it's own. Registered, then saw the doctor. There's none of this five minutes alloted per patient.
He takes the time for you to understand, not his English, but the medical terms.
The next day, there was a knock at the door asking me to confirm that I live here!!!!!!!!!
They are composing a map, so that if we ever call them out in an emergency, they have our address mapped out.
Well, if you've ever had to call an ambulance, you'll know how difficult it is to explain where you live.
Hats off to you all, you're doing a grand job.

That will be fun, knocking on our door without notice. The only things able to find our house are the blooming cats!!!!

Good to hear your tail FF, we did meet the doctor at Lapta Fun Run and we were quite impressed. Will be down to register as soon as I get rid of this horrendous sore throat and other half can walk properly again after she fell over other week!

FF,
Bet our house is harder to find than yours.

It is hilarious watching people doing the 180 degree turn off the main road onto the dirt track leading to our house. I watch from the house couple of hundred yards away.

Will be registering asap just to have that initial contact if you are feeling c**p but do not know what it is and you then have the person to point you in right direction.

Is there a fee just to register not to see the doctor?

No fee to register, you make an appointment to meet the doctor who goes through all your medical details from the form you have completed, if you have any medical documents, he will photocopy and put with your records. He was very nice and explained all the medical terms very succinctly !!

Are the Doctors 'attached' to any particular hospital? ie, should the need arise, they will send an ambulance but where will patient be taken to?

Blue butterfly,

In an emergency you will be taken to the hospital who at that time has the appropriate / best specialist to treat you. Unless of course you have a preference and the appropriate specialist is there on duty at that time.

I went on Sunday morning, and was very impressed with the service received. I was going for registration and a consultation, and was with the Doctor for an hour, very good for 70 lira.

Anyone who wishes to register must make an appointment as the surgery very busy now. Also the registrations may be carried out by a Nurse as the Doctors are extremely busy.

Chris
p.s. You can pick up the registration forms and fill them in at home, which saves valuable time at the surgery.

Both me and him have registered, quite an achievement from the Guy who has not seen a Dr in years...

Great people, smiling faces, explanations very clear, well done to all involved with this new venture as so far it appears to be a superb service........

I was most impressed not something easily achieved by me.

Credit were credits due.

Thanks Chris for being around when i registered on Monday last

The op went really well.
