Have you tried deleting and reinstalling?

I do not really do 'apple' but just googling "ipad wont update apps" brings up a lot of hits. Just one example here
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/37 ... 0&tstart=0 with various suggestions that seem to have worked for some with this problem.
