I have been told that the border is now open to ALL nationalities, including TRNC Kimlik holders and non-EU citizens.
I don't believe this is true but need it refuted or confirmed.

The green line, since EU accession of the RoC, has always been open to all nationalities provided you have travel document (passport) and if required a visa. It is the 'visa' requirement that has always been the 'catch' for nationals of those countries requiring one.
If you mean TRNC citizens that the RoC deems as 'settlers' can cross without the need for a visa as a Turkish national, then that would be a change but I doubt that is the case. Hope it is but I doubt it.

If you were born in turkey and are not married to a TRNC citizen you are not allowed to cross.

Again technically you can cross provided you have a valid visa for the RoC as a Turkish national. Of course to get such a VISA is what makes it not possible in any practical sense for people in such a category.
