Residents of the Ozankoy area - beware please, and be careful with your pets/cats. I have been told a dead cat, darkish grey colour was found in a garden in Ozankoy on Saturday morning. There was no obvious injury so it seems it may well have been poison. I have also been told that there have been several dead cats found in that location and I also given to understand that several strays have disappeared from nearby, although they could have merely moved on! It is difficult to know the cause, and it is speculated that maybe someone is killing vermin - or maybe storing dangerous chemicals in a shed and the cats are getting at it. Also cats , and dogs, can be poisoned by eating infected vermin., so please keep a close eye on your pets and please check household and garden chemical are stored out of the reach of cats and remember they can reach places even dogs and children can't.

It is so distressing to see an animal suffer or to lose a pet due to no fault of its own So i am sharing this, just to put people on their guard. I am not too sure which part of Ozankoy is involved, but I believe it is more in the region of the village itself and not down on the main road.

So sad and cruel.
A lovely little dog who was Cypriot owned and wandered about a bit was a victim of this poison recently. She was placid, calm and friendly and loved by a lot of people.
When will this horror stop or be stopped?

yes indeed. The same thing happened in this village. a very friendly dog poisoned! goodness knows why and yet all the other dogs in the street were unharmked. Targeted I reckon. Whenwill it end? when the earth is no more - until then evil continues to prevail.

I know there is a lot of strays; But, I also see a lot of posts about "lost/missing" animals.... I am just asking: Are these accidents or do people just let their animals be outdoor animals and all of a sudden notice 'hey fufu hasn't come today for..."? I love animals and if I had a pet it would definitely be an indoor pet or have those collars that allow it to only roam in its area (yard(s) around the house that is enclosed/gated because I wouldn't want to risk "losing/missing" it. When/if I had one, my pet is my baby.

Both, Corona: Some people let their dogs roam at will and feel they should be free not over protected - I dont because of the risk of traffic accidents and poison. Others like me keep them in enclosed gardens but accidents do happen with the best will in the world and it only takes a moments distraction for a gate to be left open or unlatched and fufu has sneaked out and gone wallkabout. Also dogs on leads sometimes sllip their collars - and I had one occasion when a new and untrained dog pulled on the lead , his brand new collar broke and he was over the hills and far away in a trice.
