Duty Free - Ercan

The 'Lady in Residence' is demanding to know the current situation in departures, when we last flew out early December all the shops were under notice to quit. Any info would be gratefully received and also prevent a serious deduction of brownie points which would result from turning up in Blighty without the requisite 'gifts'!

The duty free at Ercan has never been a particularly cheap place to buy goods.... Erulku supermarket is often cheaper... e.g. Bottle of Scotch 2TL... Yes - 2TL!

Just one big duty free shop now instead of lots of small ones selling the same thing!

Buy outside from a supermarket price is better
Duty free is jus a con , if it was duty free then the cost should be a small mark up production cost as no duty has ben imposed
But we all think we are getting a margin, my wife bought some perfume in Stanstead only to find when we got back into the UK it was £2.50 cheaper in Boots, now hows that DUTY FREE

Not a huge choice in the New Duty Free area at Ercan. But a pleasant area to mooch around.
Hendricks gin was 16€ so cheaper in the supermarkets as stated by Groucho.
The new immigration hall is much more welcoming than the old one, the improvements are looking good.

Unless there is a huge difference in prices since latter end of last year I won't purchasing much at all, because I only check on the perfumes. I was nearly taken in last time over the price of some Gucci, when I did a bit of work on calculator I realised it was a third more than in Debenhams and Boots in UK.

Thanks for the info, we always found tobacco products cheaper in the duty free shops than in the supermarkets, agree on most other goods however. A bonus was always that duty free goods are in addition to your hand luggage restrictions.
